Introducing Our New Mental Health Podcast: “Stupid Shxt My Brain Tells Me”
A Women and BIPOC Therapist-Led Space for Real, Honest Conversations.
I’m excited to share a new passion project that has been growing behind the scenes here at Dandelion Root Mental Health Counseling. As the founder of Dandelion Root, mental health therapist, and now podcast creator, I’m launching a new show called “Stupid Shxt My Brain Tells Me,” co-hosted by fellow Dandelion Root clinicians who bring their own lived experiences, expertise, and cultural perspectives.
This podcast was born from something deeply personal:
My own struggle with unwelcome and intrusive thoughts, especially during the postpartum period, even as a therapist who “should have known what to do.” But mental health doesn’t work that way — not for me, not for any of us.
After becoming a new mother, I found myself navigating anxiety, inner criticism, and thoughts that felt overwhelming, confusing, and lonely. When I finally opened up to my closest friends — who are also therapists — I learned they were struggling with their own versions of the “stupid shxt” their brains told them too.
And the more we talked, the more I realized:
BIPOC folks, women, and therapists often don’t have enough spaces to openly discuss intrusive thoughts, cultural pressure, identity, and the real messiness of mental health.
Even clinicians experience self-doubt, anxiety, and inner narratives that make us feel isolated.
Community and honest conversation are powerful tools for healing.
That’s why we created this podcast: to bring real, unfiltered conversations about mental health into the spotlight — with humor, vulnerability, and heart.
What You Can Expect From the Podcast
BIPOC-centered conversations about mental health
Therapist perspectives that are relatable, not clinical or cold
Real stories about intrusive thoughts, anxiety, and identity
Insight from multiple Dandelion Root clinicians
Tools, reflections, and shared experiences for anyone seeking to feel more grounded and less alone
Why This Podcast Matters
As therapists, we see firsthand how many people feel ashamed of their thoughts or worry they’re the only ones experiencing them. But intrusive thoughts, self-doubt, and those unhelpful “ shxt” our brains tells us are a universal part of the human experience.
By bringing these conversations into the open — especially through a BIPOC lens — we hope to destigmatize mental health, normalize the ups and downs, and create a community where people can laugh, reflect, and feel seen.
Launching December 16th
“Stupid Shxt My Brain Tells Me” officially launches on December 16th across major podcast platforms. I can’t wait for you to join us.
This podcast is a love letter to honesty, healing, and the shared humanity that connects us all — and I’m proud to build it alongside the Dandelion Root team.
